\r\n\r\n20-year-old Scott Champion is living the dream today at Washougal, as a guest rider on the factory Yamaha team. With Josh Hill out with back problems, Champion was drafted onto the team for this weekend’s 450cc National after spending the earlier part of the week testing a 2010 Yamaha YZ250F as a Vital MX test rider.\r\n\r\n
\r\n\r\nHow did you feel during Press Day, your first time on a national track on a full factory bike?\r\n\r\n\r\nOh, its super good, that things a beast for sure. I was super pumped; I was smiling from ear to ear the time I was out there.\r\n\r\nSuper pumped, thats a Ryan Dungey term. You already soaking in the factory rider lingo?\r\n\r\n\r\n(Laughs) Yeah, I guess thats how we do it around here (laughs).\r\n\r\nHow was the first ride coming off say, Erin Normoyles Honda?\r\n\r\n\r\nOh, its a little different (laughs). No, its so much different and I couldnt be happier about being here. Ive always loved Yamahas, and this thing is so cool to ride.\r\n\r\nHow close was the suspension set up initially?\r\n\r\n\r\nWe had to do a few changes and then made a few more yesterday. We had to make it softer; Im a little guy so we had some work to do.\r\n\r\nDid you feel close to your potential right away, or did you spend some time working out the bugs?\r\n\r\n\r\nYeah, I felt good right away. After just a few laps I was right up to my normal speed. I can adapt pretty quickly, and Im used to practicing on my Yamaha and racing Erins Honda, so I can adjust.\r\n\r\nWhat are your goals for the day?\r\n\r\n\r\nI want a good start, thats one of the biggest things Im looking for, and that shouldnt be too hard on this thing. And top ten seems reasonable if I can get up there early.
