We look forward to A Day in the Dirt more so than any other race out there, both professionally and personally. Although, in more recent years, it has become more of a personal attachment. It’s the one time of year where we can watch heroes and legends race on vintage bikes, and even race alongside them (more like watch them fly by). Every year, our minds are blown by the racing of these guys, and this year was no different. Guys like Honda Red Bull Racing’s team manager, Erik Kehoe, Jeremy McGrath, “The Chicken” Jeff Matiasevich, and even Enduro king David Knight showed the rest of us we are but mere mortals. By the way, we spent some quality time with David Knight, and that guy is super cool. Plus, he is crazy fast on a clapped vintage bike with blown rear shocks.
As for the mythic Coup de Grace, it was JCR/Honda’s Timmy Weigand who took home this year’s trophy, which happened to be a custom-painted toilet.
