Clemente Desalle had his hands full all day long. In the first moto, he battled with James Stewart four about half of the race, and they were this close for about five laps. His second moto battle with Ryan Dungey was one of the best fights for first place we have seen all season.
A lot has changed since Stewart last raced outdoors, most notably: he now has his own TV show. The Fuel TV crew follows James around just about everywhere for “Bubba’s World.”
A mechanic’s job is never finished. After all of the bikes are taken care of, it is onto the little details as Kyle Bentley demonstrates while washing his rider’s (Christophe Pourcel) race helmet.
Like we said, the Unadilla fans treat everyone under a team tent like a star. The guys on the right were so intrigued by Mike Alessi’s machinery and what his mechanic, Kelly Lumgair, was doing that it was almost distracting. There were so many questions flying towards Kelly that he could barely answer one before another was coming his way. You’ve got to love enthusiasm.
Jimmy Decotis had his best showing so far this season. The privateer from nearby Massachusetts had a big following in NY, and in the first moto was able to run as high as fifth before eventually fading back to 11th.
