Pala National – Practice

Bright and sunny skies greeted riders this morning for the final round of the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championships being held at Pala Raceway near San Diego. There is plenty of excitement in the air surrounding what has become a nail-biter of a championship battle for the 250 Class. In practice things remained equally close between first and second in the championship hunt, Christophe Pourcel and Trey Canard, but it was Eli Tomac who took the pole with a 2:16.3 lap time over Tyla Rattray and Dean Wilson. Pourcel was fourth fastest with a 2:17.8 while Canard’s 2:18.2 placed him in sixth.

Ryan Dungey had was way out front in 450 class practices, clocking a 2:14.5, which was more than one and a half seconds ahead of Ryan Sipes in second. The track is shaping up nicely and the extremely fast circuit should offer up some good racing. Although it is potentially one-lined in many places, the best riders in the world have a way of making passes happen no matter what the circumstance.
