The large fan following wasn’t the only attention that Team USA received during the course of the weekend. Everywhere they went, photographers hounded them, and this shot of Dungey packing his gate before the start of the first moto, illustrates the fact that the team was very popular with the press.
Ricky Carmichael showed up to take in the action on Sunday and said hello to Antonio Cairoli on the line before the start of the first MX1/MX2 moto.

After talking the talk before the race about beating Dungey, Cairoli couldn’t make it happen in either MX1 moto. At the beginning of the first moto, Cairoli did all he could to keep pace with Dungey, but eventually dropped his pace slightly, allowing Dungey to eventually pull out to a comfortable lead.
Following each race, the top-three riders are interviewed for television, however, before getting in front of the camera, riders cool off and get cleaned up in a small tent on the side. Here, Metcalfe catches his breath and gets some water following his first moto third.
