At only 16 years old, Germany’s Ken Roczen is quickly establishing himself as one of the world’s top racers. In both MX2 motos he dominated and even led the final moto ahead of all the MX3 riders until getting passed by Ben Townley and Kyle Regal. He also won the Ricky Carmichael MXoN Award.

While the crowd wasn’t as big as it has been at previous MXoN races, there were still plenty of people in attendance. And with a huge hillside as a backdrop, there really wasn’t a bad seat in the house.

New Zealand’s Ben Townley rode very strong in the first MX3 moto, taking over the lead after making a controversial move on Short. The second moto, however, didn’t go too well for the New Zealander, as he ran into some problems and carded a 35th place finish.

The Thunder Valley track had some changes done to it for the MXoN, however, it was largely the same layout as it was for this year’s National. The changes made included: making the track wider, adding some larger jumps, and moving the start straight forward in order to add a new straight behind it. All of this combined for some great racing on a track that offered many different line choices.

Even though Team USA ran into some troubles—Short’s crash and Canard getting caught up in the first turn—the team stayed strong and pulled through for the sixth straight win for the red, white, and blue.
