Monday Kickstart Presented By ONE Industries
By Brendan Lutes and Jordan Powell
As the announcers said numerous times over the course of the weekend, “The Pope has been to Dodger Stadium, the Rolling Stones have played, and now Supercross is here.” For the first time ever, a motorsport event was held inside the historic Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, California, and it was a huge success. Thousands of fans turned out to witness some of the best racing anyone has seen in the past few years on one of the more technical tracks so far this season. But while the racing was epic, there was much more that went down this past weekend. Without further ado, sit back, grab something to drink, and check out this week’s Monday Kickstart.
Rookie Geico Powersports/Honda’s Eli Tomac had his best Supercross finish yet. After getting a good start, Eli held off challenges from Broc Tickle and Ryan Morais to finish second behind first-time winner Troy Lee Designs/Honda’s Cole Seely. On the podium, Tomac was visibly excited about his finish.
What does the Manfriend of the Year do all day? Anything his rider might need. We caught Dano prepping Planet Fitness stickers for Kevin Windham’s helmet. Apparently no one makes helmet stickers, forcing Dano to cut them out of fender stickers.
Geico Powersports/Honda’s replacement rider Jimmy Decotis might be very fast, but he is arguably one of the smaller riders in the pits. Check out his shaved down seat.
Jimmy also elects to run his bars swept back way further than most riders would be comfortable with.
Not only does Decotis run his bars swept back, but he also runs a different bar clamp than other riders on the team. Jimmy’s top bar clamp is in two separate pieces while Tomac runs a solid mount on his bike.
