Each lap he barely made it over the top by a couple of inches, but this line did help him pull away from his competition.

Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki's Dean Wilson was off to a good start during the day by coming out on top in the first qualifier, and a second place finish in his heat race. Once the main started, though, he ran into some troubles right from the beginning. When he came around mechanic's row on the first lap, we spotted him pushing down his clutch lever. He went on to finish the main with an eighth place, and he's now nine points behind the series leader, Justin Barcia.

Unlike most of the Supercross opening ceremonies, Daytona stayed away from the laser light shows and long video intros. Instead, Ryan Villopoto, Andrew Short, James Stewart, Chad Reed, Kevin Windham, and Trey Canard rode through this inflatable tunnel filled with fog, and onto the track.

They also had flame throwers, but halfway through the introductions, this one caught on fire...

...and sent the fire crew scambling to put it out.
