After one year away, the USGP made its return back to Glen Helen with cooler temperatures and intense racing action. At the end of the qualifiers, Red Bull/Teka/KTM’s Ken Roczen and Rockstar Energy Suzuki’s Clement Desalle took the pole positions in the MX2 and MX1 classes, respectively, heading into tomorrow. In Moto 1 of the Vet World Cup, Doug Dubach took the win with Darryll King and Mats Nilsson in second and third. Racing action starts tomorrow morning at 8:30.

MX1 QUALIFYING

With 34 riders lined up on the gate, it was Monster Energy Yamaha rider Anthony Boissiere with the holeshot. After one lap, Evgeny Bobryshev and Clement Desalle moved into the number one and two spots, respectively. Holeshot winner, Boissiere, fell back into third. Bobryshev and Desalle battled it out for first, while Boissiere and Nagl battled it out for third. On the third lap, Desalle took the outside option line after the finish line jump and his momentum allowed him to drive his way into first. Once the pass had been made, he quickly started to pull away from Bobryshev. Nagl also made his way into third, and he started to reel in Bobryshev. On the last lap, Nagl made his way around Bobryshev, and Desalle took the win in the MX1 qualifier.

After the race Desalle said in the press conference, “I’m going to do my best to win. The track is long, and there are a lot of dangerous jumps. So, I’m going to have to be careful.”
