Story and photos by Jordan Powell

Monster Energy Mammoth Motocross hosted the first day of the DC Mini Days, and the racing action was intense all the way from the 50cc class to the Supermini class.

It may have been Adam Cianciarulo's first year to Mammoth, but you would have never known that by his near flawless 1-1 finishes in the Supermini class.

In the first moto of the Division 2 Supermini class, Cianciarulo grabbed the holeshot and led the pack up the hill. Close behind him were Suzuki teammates Tristan Miller and Rookie White. As the teammates battled it out, Kawasaki’s Mark Worth sat close behind in fourth. Miller ended up going down, which allowed White and Worth to advance in their positions. By the time those two riders made the move into second and third, Cianciarulo had given himself a plus-10 cushion. When the moto came to a close, Cianciarulo had an almost 20-second lead, while White and Worth rounded off the podium.

In the Supermini main, Cianciarulo once again grabbed the holeshot with Miller and Worth in tow. AC steadily pulled away from the pack, but the battle between Miller and Worth started to pursue behind him. Miller held him off for three laps until a tip over after the off-camber tree turn caused him and Worth to go down. White and Justin Hoeft gained positions from the crash, and they moved into second and third. Cianciarulo pulled away even more in the main, and it was an easy win for the young rider. Hoeft tried to put on a late moto charge to pass White, but by the time the checker flag flew, Rookie held off the Yamaha rider.

One of the best battles of the day happened in the 85cc 7-11 main. Rockstar Suzuki teammates Michael Mosiman and Sean Cantrell battled it out from start to finish, and they had everyone cheering them on. Like the battle between Ryan Hughes and Jeremy McGrath a couple days earlier, the two young riders swapped positions numerous times. In the end, Mosiman made his last pass stick, and he took the moto win with Cantrell finishing with a close second. Tyler Weyman took the remaining podium spot.
