Monster Energy Mammoth Motocross – DC Mini Days: Day Two

Story and photos by Jordan Powell

The DC Mini Days came to a close today, and the racing action was as good as ever.

Mark Worth took the overall in the 85 Open class with 1-1 finishes.

Mark Worth took the overall in the 85 Open class with 1-1 finishes.

In the 85 Open main, Suzuki’s Sean Cantrell came out on top after the downhill. Right behind him, though, was a hard charging Kawasaki rider, Mark Worth. Worth kept applying pressure on the Suzuki rider, and he eventually made the pass shortly after the second lap. Worth wasn’t the only rider that Cantrell was going to have to deal with. Darian Sanayei quickly made his way onto the rear wheel of Cantrell, and the Suzuki rider did everything he could do to hold him off. However, Sanayei made his way around Cantrell, and they both finished second and third, respectively, while Worth took the win. Troy Graffunder and Luke Purther capped off the top five.

In the Supermini class, Adam Cianciarulo once again grabbed the holeshot and led the pack of riders up the hill. With only a one-moto break, Sanayei was back at it in the Supermini class, and he sat in second after the first lap. Desperately searching for lines behind him, though, was Tristan Miller. Sanayei held off the Suzuki rider for as long as he could, but eventually, Miller made the pass. One rider that was quickly moving through the pack was Rookie White. At the halfway point, he found himself working on his teammate, Miller. While Cianciarulo continued to gap the field of riders, Miller and White swapped positions numerous times. Finally, on the last lap and on the last corner, White made one last effort to pass Miller for second. A braking bump almost sent White over the bars, but he saved it and pinned it to the finish. In an almost photo finisher, White passed Miller for second.
