Race Report – Thunder Valley

250 CLASS

MOTO 1
The start of the first 250 class moto saw Geico Honda’s Justin Barcia take the holeshot and quickly jump into the led followed by Monster/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki teammates Dean Wilson and Blake Baggett. For the first five laps of the race, Wilson and Baggett couldn’t catch Barcia, however, once they did, both riders worked their way around him quickly at the bottom of the downhill, and after that, Barcia began to go backwards as it appeared his illness was hindering his endurance. One lap later, Baggett made his way around Wilson, and after that, never looked back as he rode away from the field. Behind the top two, a hard-charging Eli Tomac was quickly working his way up to the front, and by the midway point in the race, he had moved into third ahead of Honda-mounted Darryn Durham. From that point on, the top positions remained the same, as Baggett took the win followed by Wilson and Tomac.

MOTO 2:
The final moto of the day saw Baggett quickly jump out to the lead followed closely by Geico Honda’s Lance Vincent, DNA Shred Stix/Star Racing/Yamaha’s Ryan Sipes, and Durham. As the laps clicked off, Baggett began to open up a comfortable lead, however, Wilson was charging hard and quickly got around Vincent and into second. A few laps later, Vincent dropped out of the race, and Tomac was once again climbing his way up to the front from deep in the top-10.
By the midway point in the race, Baggett was comfortably out front with Wilson in second and Tomac third, and after that, things settled down for the frontrunners as they remained in the same order until the checkered flag flew. Baggett took the win and overall with Wilson second for second overall and Tomac third for third overall.
