Monday Kickstart – Washougal National

We love our annual visit to Washougal, Washington for the Lucas Oil Motocross Championship. The scenic setting, the cooler temps (compared to the scorchers on the east coast), and of course, the amazing local beers coming out of neighboring Portland, Oregon, keep us excited to return year after year. Most of you likely caught the full live telecast on Speed, but maybe we snagged something you may have missed. Check out some photos from this weekend’s racing…

The Washougal setting is like no other venue on the Lucas Oil AMA Motocross Championship tour. Nestled in southeastern Washington, just a stone’s throw from Oregon, the Washougal MX Park boasts towering evergreen trees, mild temperatures, crisp air, and a bitchin' motocross track.

Tragedy struck early in the second 450 moto when Honda's Trey Canard crashed hard and re-fractured his freshly healed femur. Canard returned to Oklahoma Sunday morning to have the bone reset, and is confident that he will be back for Anaheim 1. Get well soon, Trey!

The red flag in the second moto (due to Canard's crash) gave Ryan Dungey another chance to get a good start, and he took full advantage. He jumped out for the holeshot, then steadily distanced himself from everyone else to score the 2-1 he needed for the overall.

Geico Honda's Justin Barcia suffered a broken nose at last weekend's Millville MX, and he sported a pair of black eyes this weekend in Washougal. "You should have seen me earlier in the week," joked Barcia. "Dude, I didn't want to leave my house!" Barcia reported that the pain in his busted schnoz isn't that bad, but it is a tiny bit crooked now. "It doesn't matter, bud," he said. "I'm a dirt bike racer, not a male model."
