Practice has concluded at MX338 in Southwick, Massachusetts, and so far the rain has hit hard once, but the torrential downpour from Hurricane Irene has held off and the track is holding up with only light drizzle falling on and off right now. In the 450 Class, local privateer Honda rider Michael Sottile posted the fastest lap time of 1:55.581, TwoTwo Motorsports/Honda’s Chad Reed turned in the second quickest time of 1:56.432, and Rockstar/Makita/Suzuki’s Ryan Dungey was third quickest with a time of 1:56.931. In the 250 Class Geico Honda’s Eli Tomac was the fastest around the rough track with a time of 2:00.338, last year’s winner Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Tyla Rattray was second with a time of 2:00.843, and DNA Shred Stix/Star Racing/Yamaha’s Gareth Swanepoel was third, posting a time of 2:01.911.
