Monster Kawasaki’s Ryan Villopoto and our “go to guy” at DVS, Dano Legere, lined up for a drag race at press day. Even though everyone’s favorite man friend has shed a few pounds, his mountain bike was no match for the thumper.
It is kind of sickening to know that was a fresh exhaust placed up there, instead of a tweaked pipe from the scrap bin.
Close friends Dean Wilson and Justin Bogle battled in the second moto, with Wilson becoming stealing the win away at the end. Wilson later joked, “If he would have won, we wouldn’t have been friends anymore.”
The Edison Dye Cup was presented to Ryan Villopoto and the Kawasaki squad once RV clinched the title. The trophy will be held at the Kawi headquarters until next year, where it will then be given back and passed to the next 450 class champion.
