The second annual TWMX Industry Cup descended onto Milestone Raceway this past Friday, pitting the all of the motocross industry in an MXoN-style race for moto supremacy. This year, Team Tucker Rocky (Answer, MSR, & Pro Taper) took over the Tretta-Motoda Cup from defending champs DEFT Family. Tucker teammates Charles Castloo, Randy Valade, and Andy Bakken combined strong, consistent finishes to edge out Team FMF, who took second place for the second year in a row.
In the first moto, TWMX’s own Brendan Lutes grabbed the holeshot aboard his Suzuki RM-Z450, but FMF’s Jeff Northrop moved into the lead early lead. Fox/Shift’s Jeff Emig quickly tracked Northrop down, however, and the two battled for the lead. Emig eventually made the pass and took the first win of the day. Nick Evennou kept the FMF team up front in the second moto, jumping out to an early lead and holding in throughout. Brian “Bubbs” Foster of the DEFT Family put in a strong, fast moto as well, but couldn’t track down Evennou before the checkers flew. Tucker Rocky’s Charles Castloo and Randy Valade combined for 3-4 finishes in the moto, solidifying themselves at least a top-five team finish at day’s end.
The final moto of the day looked much like the first up front, as Emig and Northrop again jockeyed for position. Emig, though, clicked the afterburners and took off. When the final flag flew, Team Tucker Rocky had the best combined score, with five out of six top-five finishes.
