2011 In Review: Our Favorite Photos and Videos

Favorite Cover – Josh Hansen/May 2011
This cover is my favorite of the year for a few reasons. We have only put a portrait on the cover a couple times(both other times were James Stewart)and a rider very rarely graces our first page without throwing a whip or blasting a berm. When Josh Hansen told us he wanted to do a portrait, our art director Shane Kinman went all out and created the newspaper clippings for the background, and I went to work on how to light the shot. For me, creating the lighting was the best part, as it let me get more creative than I normally do with product shots and action photos. In the end, I think we came away with one of the most memorable covers we have ever had. And it created a lot of talk amongst riders, readers, and motocross industry pundits.
