The first round of the Muscle Milk TWMX Winter Cup descended onto Perris Raceway in Southern California this weekend, and it welcomed an insane turnout of riders. With a total of about 460 race entries, it was a great way to kickstart this six-round series that will travel to some of the best motocross tracks in Southern California. Considering the $35 membership fee gets you a $25 BTO gift certificate, a TransWorld Motocross Magazine subscription, a 2012 Race Series T-shirt and a killer 9-Fifty snapback New Era hat, it’s no wonder so many people were ready to race. With the parking lot completely full and 28 motos to get through, it was time to go racing. Practice got underway with a bit of wind heading through the valley, but would soon die down just a bit right as the racing started. After getting through 10 or so practices, the first gate dropped for the 85cc class. Moto number two lined up to the gate next, and included a ton of fast guys like Jessie Huntley and Bryan Brimhall. Huntley would take the moto win at the end of that exciting race. From there, moto after moto lined up to race for the new Muscle Milk TWMX trophies.
All in all, it was a successful, fun-filled race day with few crashes or pile-ups. Be sure to join us at Cahuilla Creek MX for round two on January 22. It’s going to be another great time and another great day of racing. See you there! Until then, check out the photos of the action. For all race info, visit TWMXRS.com.
