Clear blue skies graced O.co Stadium (formerly Oakland-Alameda) today leaving a seemingly dry, dusty track for Supercross’ best to put in their practice laps. And although the dust kicked up, the riders claimed it to be a tacky, rutted track. As the shadows crept across the track late in the afternoon, Dirt Wurx laid a fresh layer of water onto the surface, leaving what looked to be ideal race conditions.
During first practice, Lites riders Eli Tomac and Zach Osborne laid down fast laps that fell into the 55-second mark, which were just milliseconds from James Stewart’s fast lap in the 450 class. In the second Lites practice, nine riders broke into the 55-second mark, while Marvin Musquin, Zach Osborne, and Eli Tomac actually broke into 54 seconds.
James Stewart did not retain the fastest lap in the second 450 practice, but did break into the sub-55 mark. Ryan Villopoto took the fastest lap, followed by Ryan Dungey. Kevin Windham and Davi Millsaps rounded out the top five in the premier class.
