San Diego Supercross Practice Report

A deceiving layout which stretched across the massive Qualcomm Stadium floor greeted the riders on a cool, clear San Diego morning. Another sold out crowd is expected to file in to the concrete bowl, as the pit area has teemed with throngs of fans for the duration of the day. Tonight’s race will be broadcast live on Speed, the first of a seven week run of live showings.

Lites Class

Dean Wilson and Eli Tomac battled tooth and nail for the top spot in the first timed session of the day, with Wilson edging the points leader by .100 of a second. Tomac raised the bar in the second session and was a full second quicker than his first outing, as his 46.450 bested Wilson’s 46.722.

Supercross Class

Anaheim Two runner up James Stewart set the pace early in the first 450 timed session of the day with more than a half-second advantage over Ryan Villopoto. The defending champion and current points leader was the fastest rider in the final practice, but his pace was not enough to best Stewart’s prior time.
