Seven-time All Japan National MX Champion Akira Narita spent the past few weeks in SoCal, testing, training and vacationing, as he prepared for the upcoming Japanese season opener, held April 8 in Kumamoto, Japan. After winning last year’s championship aboard a privateer Yamaha YZ450F, Narita signed with the Japanese HRC factory Honda team, and is favored to earn his eighth number-one plate in 2012. Narita’s name may sound familiar to some; he finished second to Travis Pastrana in the 2001 Mt. Morris 125cc National, and visited the podium again with a third in the 2005 Anaheim Supercross Lites main.
