Troy Lee Designs / Lucas Oil / Honda Storms Seattle

Corona, CA (April 23, 2012) - The Troy Lee Designs / Lucas Oil / Honda team finally got back to racing this weekend in Seattle, Washington. It had been weeks since the west region riders lined up together, and as the battle for the championship winds down Cole Seely finds himself in the points chase with only two rounds to go.

The heat races were relatively uneventful for the Troy Lee riders. Travis Baker rode a steady race to finish sixth while Seely started eighth and climbed his way to third by the finish. The heats sent both riders directly to the main event starting grid.

In the main event Travis Baker jumped into fifth coming out of the first turn while Seely found himself mired in the pack near twelfth position. Travis held his place for the first five laps and then began to tighten up and make mistakes, dropping to ninth at the finish. Cole made a steady charge to the front and was in third with only two laps to go. A charging Marvin Musquin made his way by however, relegating Seely to fourth.

With the series points leader finishing behind Cole it keeps Seely in the chase with a mathematical shot at the title. Cole is still taking it one race at a time.

“I still have a shot at it but I’m really just going into each race trying to get to the front and finish the best I can. I have a lot of points to make up on the other guys so I just need to do the best I can and not worry about the rest of it. It would have been great to win here in Seattle but it just wasn’t in the cards. We will work hard this week and come into Salt Lake City swinging.

The Troy Lee Designs crew heads southeast to Salt Lake City, Utah for the penultimate round of the series this weekend. If you are coming to the race stop by and get an autograph from Cole and Travis.
