WESTERN REGIONAL SUPERCROSS LITES
Continuing where his teammate left off in the main event beforehand, Eli Tomac had the timing perfect as he grabbed the holeshot aboard his Geico Honda. As the riders came into the first turn, Rockstar Suzuki’s Martin Davalos and Jason Anderson held down second and third. Ryan Sipes and Lucas Oil/Troy Lee Designs/Honda’s newest addition Billy Laninovich went down in the first turn. Anderson’s second place finish in Salt Lake City possibly gave him some confidence coming into this main, as he quickly started to push his teammate for second. On the next lap, right before the triple, Anderson took a very inside line on Davalos, and made the pass. However, it was too long after where Anderson would bobble through a rhythm section, and forfeit his position. This allowed Davalos to move back into second, and Wilson moved into third. Meanwhile, Tomac had opened up his lead significantly. It took a while for Anderson to regroup, as Red Bull KTM’s Marvin Musquin made the pass, but a few short turns later, the Suzuki rider parked the Frenchman in a corner. During all of this commotion, Geico Honda’s Wil Hahn had moved into fourth.
Lap after lap, Eli continued to show his dominance on the track, while Wilson started inching closer and closer to Davalos. Eventually, Davalos lost his second place position to the hard charging rider. Hahn was on a move, too, and made the pass on Davalos. When the 15-lap main came to an end, Tomac had taken the win followed by Wilson, and Hahn.
