DAVE COOMBS SR. MEMORIAL EAST VS. WEST SHOOTOUT
It was the moment everyone had been waiting for: the Dave Coombs Sr. Memorial East VS. West Coast Shootout! All eyes were set on Geico Honda’s Justin Barcia and Eli Tomac, and when the gates dropped, it was Bam Bam with the Nuclear Cowboyz Holeshot Award. As he entered the stadium, he led Martin Davalos, Eli Tomac, Ken Roczen, and Hunter Hewitt. After three laps, Barcia looked as if he hit neutral coming up to the finish line jump, and this allowed Davalos to move into the lead. The Rockstar Suzuki rider held this position for the next couple of laps, but a costly mistake in a rhythm section put him back to third. Tomac benefited from that mistake, and 1E and 1W were going one and two. Tomac kept the gap to less than a second, but he couldn’t make the pass on his teammate. Barcia threw a big fist pump as he crossed the finish line ahead of Tomac and Davalos.
