I wont ride without mine. Its definately saved me from serious injury all I ended up with was a dislocated collar bone instead of back or neck injury.

with the advances in safety technology it is ridiculous not to use one if its not comfy get used to it people are idiotic when they believe they have a greater understanding than that of experts with masters degrees, the severity of neck/ spinal injurys is something that shouldn't be taken lightly they might cost a fair bit but when you have a reduced chance of injury its worth the price tag, and if it was going to cause injury the product wouldn't be marketed, people educate yourselves and stop believing it wont happen to you because there is every chance it just might and protect yourselves.

I am very surprised about their claim that the incident with the 15 year old boy never happened. As I am a swede I know for a fact that a 15 year old boy did actually die in Västerås last year. It was during the Swedish national series that he got run over a couple of turns after the start. He sustained severe injuries to the throat that ultimately caused him to bleed out on the track. It was a sad day in Swedish motocross and it was all over the national news. I don’t know if his brace had anything to do with his neck/throat injuries but to say that the accident never happened is straight up a lie! I tried going to leatt.com/lab but I couldn’t find the claimed document from SVEMO (Swedish equivalent to AMA), it just says “The page you are looking for cannot be found”. I wear a leatt myself so I am in no way a hater, just surprised about them claiming the accident as a rumor.

Found it! http://www.leatt-brace.com/images/uploads/library/FIM_Sweden_Letter.pdf Ok so the document doesn’t actually say the accident was a rumor just that the circumstances were not as portrayed in the rumors. I haven’t seen the autopsy report so I don’t know for sure and I assume SVEMO is not lying, I just heard first hand from a guy that saw the accident and he told me what I wrote below. Keep up the good work Leatt!

OK, I'm convinced...I'm back wearing mine...I've stopped to wear mine for a while, worried with all the rumors, but I can see now that this is like the safety belt on a car. It can kill you, but most of the time it can save you also...

You could probably, if you search long enough, find reports of car accidents where the driver survived because he did't use the seat belt, where the seat belt would have been dangerous. Yet I still use the seat belt in the car because I know that the odds for a happy outcome of an accident are better if I do. Same could probably be said about many other forms of protective eqipment, they are beneficial in 99 out of a 100 events but they could, in some rare freak events, have negative impact. The odds are still in favour of using them.
