MotoConcepts Racing – Las Vegas Race Report

Spokane, WA (May 9, 2012) – - MotoConcepts Racing finished the season strong in Las Vegas. As one of the true privateer efforts on the circuit, MotoConcepts brought its nonconformist approach to the AMA Supercross Series backing a top tier rider in Mike Alessi and providing a platform to up and coming riders Jeff Alessi, Jake Canada, Tommy Weeck, and Vince Friese.

Team Owner Mike Genova provided riders the support they needed using bikes without the aid of any factory support or contracted team managers, just passion and desire to showcase the MCR bikes in both the Lites and Supercross classes.

In the series finale, Mike Alessi once again put his MCR450 out front in both the Heat race and Main event and finished off the year with a 7th. Alessi’s effort and dedication, coupled with smart and consistent riding, completed a rare feat in the 2012 SX series; finishing every main event to earn a solid 6th place overall in the series.

Jeff Alessi, racing the MCR450, showed his career was back on track. With the support of Mike Genova, one of his biggest fans, and the tutelage of father Tony Alessi, Jeff made six (6) main events in one of the most stacked seasons ever before, before suffering a wrist injury at the Seattle round.

In the East Lites class, Jake Canada shocked the factory-backed teams with several top finishes and received great television attention throughout the year with his career-best results. Racing the MCR250 in the East division, Jake had several top rides and finished a respectable 8th place in the Vegas Main in route to 6th overall in the championship standings.

Also in the East, Tommy Weeck had a season that featured either a “DNS’ or solid finishes in the East Lites Main event. Hitting his head in the opening practice round at Dallas, Tommy sat out the first three events. When healthy enough to return, Tommy jumped right back into the mix, seemingly not losing a step, qualified and rode great in every Main Event. Prior to the Vegas round, Tommy was injured in practice crash prior to race day and was forced to miss out on the events on Saturday.

A rider that can never be overlooked and who vaulted into primetime for the 2012 season was MCR’s Vince Friese. A great starter and aggressive rider, Vince exceeded expectations and battled each week with the top factory riders. Vince could easily have finished inside the Top 10 in Lites West leaving Vegas but a brutal practice crash prevented him from racing the rest of the evening. Vince proved in 2012 that his style of riding is a force to be reckoned with come the Nationals.

MotoConcepts Racing brought a bold new approach to the 2012 Supercross season. From backing top riders, providing unequalled support for racers that may never have gotten attention from others, to riding bikes designed and built by in-house staff only, MotoConcepts Racing holeshot several races, had great results, received exceptional media coverage; showing the industry that passion and determination, along with respect and belief in team riders, works!
