Race Report: Hangtown National MX 2012

WMX Moto 1:
The start saw Rockstar Suzuki’s Jessica Patterson jump out to the early lead, but Muscle Milk Honda’s Ashley Fiolek quickly passed her. After that, Fiolek held onto the lead and never relinquished it. Patterson did her best to catch the Honda rider, but it was to no avail. Behind the top two, Lucas Oil/Red Bull/Honda’s Tarah Geiger settled into third and after that, the top-three remained the same. When the checkered flag flew, Fiolek took the win followed by Pattereson and Geiger.

WMX Moto 2:
The second moto saw Fiolek take the holeshot again, but Patterson quickly passed her. Fiolek then went down and dropped back to sixth. Patterson took over the lead, but it was brief, as she came together with another rider and went down hard. Patterson remounted but Team Green Kawasaki’s Meghan Rutledge took over the lead.
After that, Patterson did all she could to climb back up to the lead, but could only get to second before the checkered flag came out. Fiolek finished fourth. Third went to Tarah Geiger The moto win was the first of Rutledge’s career.
