Thunder Valley MX 2012: Practice

Sunshine and mild temperatures welcomed racers and fans alike this morning in Lakewood, Colorado, but as practice came to a close, dark, ominous clouds loomed overhead. With a good chance of thunderstorms and showers, the goggle reps have their guesswork cut out for them.

Yoshimura Suzuki's James Stewart was the fastest man in 450 practice, but Ryan Dungey wasn't far behind.

In the premier 450 class, Yoshimura Suzuki’s James Stewart and Red Bull KTM’s Ryan Dungey were the front runners, both posting times over two seconds faster than the third qualifier Jake Weimer.

Troy Lee Designs/ Lucas Oil/ Honda's Jessy Nelson was only 16th fastest in the 250 class, but he was cracking whips just about every chance he got.

In the 250 class, the top five guys traded fast laps throughout both sessions. In the end, Geico Honda’s Eli Tomac took the fast lap, just edging out Pro Circuit’s Blake Baggett and Geico Honda teammate Justin Barcia.
