Thor’s Jake Weimer Earns First Motocross Podium of the Season

Thor’s Jake Weimer didn’t let the elevation of the mile-high city bother him as he rode to a 2-4 moto finish, capturing his first podium finish in the 450 class. With his great ride at the Thunder Valley MX Park in Lakewood, Colo, he jumped from fourth to second in the championship standings.

Also running well was Thor’s Brett Metcalfe, who scored a third-place finish in the first moto behind Weimer, but a bad start in the second moto forced him to put together a come-from-behind finish. He raced from 26th on the opening lap to an impressive 10th-place finish in Moto 2, finishing the day fifth overall. Thor’s Broc Tickle came back from a mechanical in the first moto to score a season-best third-place finish in Moto 2, moving him up to 11th overall despite the DNF in the opening moto.

In the 250 class, riders faced extreme weather conditions prior to the opening moto. After an hour delay, officials started the 250 class moto on a freshly soaked track. Although the conditions were tough, Thor’s Blake Baggett came through the pack to finish just a half-second back of second place at the checkered. With a third-place finish going into the second moto, Baggett took over the lead on Lap 7 and was looking like he had the overall, but changes in position behind him forced him to settle for second overall. With his solid finishing positions, Baggett now leads the 250 class by 16 points. Teammate Ivan Tedesco came back from a tough first moto to finish 14-8 and 11th overall.

On the off-road front, Thor’s Destry Abbott took part in the Perry Mountain 24 Hour Challenge in Maplesville, Ala. His team grabbed the overall victory by several minutes.
