250 Moto One
After notching the top times in qualifying, Red Bull KTM’s Marvin Musquin led the Lites field into the first turn. Musquin would have fast company in Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki racer Blake Baggett, but the Lites class point leader would be passed by GEICO Powersports Honda teammates Justin Barcia and Eli Tomac in the early moments of the race. As the two Honda racers dueled for second place, Musquin began to distance himself from the rest of the pack. The distance between the three would vary throughout the first half of the race, as Musquin would pull away one lap, with Barcia then closing in on the next. Baggett would make numerous mistakes as he attempted to stay close to the top three, the most critical of which would put him on the ground and down to sixth behind Roczen. He would come back into the battle by posting the fastest laps of the moto, but another incident would send him off the track and, after spending a substantial amount of time trying to get back inside the lane, down to sixth place.
Just past the halfway point of the moto, Barcia closed in on Musquin and dove to the inside of a left-hand turn to take the lead. Tomac would follow suit shortly after, which established the finishing order for the first moto.

250 Moto Two
Justin Barcia charged into the first turn at the head of the field to claim the holeshot in the second Lites moto of the day, with Justin Bogle and Blake Baggett right behind. Barcia notched the fastest laps of the early portion of the race as the rest of the pack worked for their places in line. Baggett pulled even with Bogle for second place after railing an outside line on the top section of the track, and would make his pass for the spot when the two blitzed across the whoop section that lay just before the finish line. Over the course of the next laps, the gap between first and second would fluctuate depending on each rider’s lap time, before Baggett began to turn faster laps than Barcia more consistently. Just before the final two laps began, the Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki rider leapt into the lead. Although he was pushed back into second place, Barcia’s 1-2 finishes were enough for the overall and the GEICO Powersports Honda rider calmed his pace.
