Race Report: Southwick MX 2012

 WMX Moto One:
When the gate dropped for the opening WMX moto of the day, Honda’s Ashley Fiolek rounded the first turn in the lead followed by Rockstar Suzuki’s Jessica Patterson, Honda-mounted Sade Allender, and Troy Lee Designs/Lucas Oil/Honda’s Tarah Gieger. On the second lap, Gieger moved into third, and after that the running order never changed, as Fiolek opened up a lead that Patterson couldn’t touch and Gieger settled into third.

WMX Moto Two:
The second moto saw Fiolek again take the holeshot followed closely by Patterson. A few laps in, however, Patterson went down, but remounted and remained in second. Behind her, Gieger held down third again, but she too went down and dropped back to fifth. When the checkered flag flew, Fiolek took the win followed by Patterson, Motoconcepts’ Mariana Balbi, Sara Pettersson, and Geiger.
