While leading the first moto, James Stewart swapped in the high-speed section before the Gravity Cavity. He quickly leapt up and remounted his bike, but the lengthy time spent re-firing buried him deep in the back. Stewart would climb back to ninth by the end of moto one, but this would not be the end of his difficulties. While running just behind Alessi and Dungey in the second moto, he slammed the ground after mistiming a sketchy rhythm section. Stewart appeared to be clutching his arm while riding the Asterisk Medical Mule, but no further word has been released.
