Lake Elsinore MX 2012: Press Day – Team USA Preview
Lake Elsinore and possibly the Monster Cup will mark Justin Brayton's final races as a Muscle Milk Honda rider. Currently seventh in the championship, Brayton entered the year with a concussion and has finished as high as fourth place. It appears that Brayton will rejoin JGR/Toyota/Yamaha for 2013 and beyond.
Broc Tickle's rookie season in the 450 class was nothing less than impressive, as the Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki racer claimed multiple second place overall finishes and led Unadilla. Tickle is currently in talks with a handful of teams for next season, with the strongest buzz coming from Hart & Huntington Suzuki. While taking to the track for the media, Tickle was among the first to triple the uphill rollers.
After missing all of the Supercross season and half of the Nationals due to a nagging wrist injury and botched surgery, Christian Craig has returned to climb to 20th in the championship. Though his career has overcome numerous challenges and setbacks since his rookie season, Craig is lethal aboard a 450 and is back with Troy Lee Designs/Lucas Oil/Honda for next year.
We clocked Ryan Dungey on the Lake Elsinore circuit, and the 2012 National champion turned in a 2:40.7 lap time. Expect 11-15 lap motos this weekend.
The track crew at Lake Elsinore have done an incredible job bringing motocross back to the the city, as the track and facility have still-untapped potential. While local law forbids bringing in dirt from other locations into the grounds, they have mixed in massive amounts of mulch to the surface.
Wil Hahn was a regular to LE during the summer months, but the layout he dialed in is nothing similar to what he and the rest of the field will compete on Saturday.
This massive double sits in the back portion of the track and will be crowded with fans throughout the day. Tarah Geiger was the only WMA rider to launch the gap during the short session on the track.
