250 Moto One
Red Bull KTM racer Marvin Musquin pulled a massive holeshot over GEICO Powersports Honda’s Justin Barcia, yet Barcia would make his way around to take control of the race by the end of the first lap. Blake Baggett inched his Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki into third place and then began to work on Musquin for second place. While the points leader ran seemingly without issue, rival Eli Tomac was locked into a battle with his own teammate Wil Hahn. As the two diced for position, Barcia and Baggett started to pull away, dimming Tomac’s championship hopes.
Baggett jumped past Barcia to take the lead, which the Honda rider attempted to counter by squaring a turn. This move would not be enough, as Baggett upped the pace and motored away to take the win. Tomac would eventually take down Barcia for second place, but Baggett’s win would add another two points to the gap.
The first moto would claim numerous 250 riders, due to the scorching mid-day heat, bike difficulties, and crashes. In all, 15 riders would fail to finish the moto, most notably Star/Valli/Rockstar/Yamaha’s Kyle Cunningham, who’s bike would run dry of fuel on the final lap.

250 Moto Two
Eleven10 Mods privateer Alex Martin led the field as they funneled into the first turn, yet Barcia would snatch the lead yet again. When the pack would come around for the end of the first lap, Blake Baggett would be credited with 11th place, but this was much higher up the chart than Eli Tomac. In the turn before the finish line, Tomac had hit the ground and appeared to be in no hurry to mount his Honda. While many quickly assumed he would pull off with injury, Tomac rejoined the race in last place. By the final flag, he would climb back into the top-20 to take 14th place.
With Tomac out of contention, the focus turned to Barcia and Baggett at the front of the field. The Honda rider was a far distance ahead of the field, but Baggett’s faster times were shortening the gap. On their final lap around the circuit, Baggett upped the pace yet again and crossed the line 1.877 seconds behind Barcia. 1-2 finishes by Baggett would earn him the overall and his first professional title.
