SPY Billboard In North County Taken Down

Face it, life needs controversy. It breaks the monotony of everyday life and makes moments memorable. So when a major business decides to dip a toe outside the lines of what is considered “acceptable,” it understandably makes a stir. SPY Optic is known for having a bit of edge in their designs and advertisements, and to build hype for their latest product dubbed the “Happy Lens” they bought space on a billboard in Encinitas, CA, for an add that simply read “Happy To Sit On Your Face.” Witty? Yes. Offensive? Apparently, as they were forced to pull it down after a short lived yet widely popular stint. The takedown has made local and national headlines, which in turn probably has more people looking at the brand than the ad could have if it stayed up without issue. There are some smart dudes down the street from us, that’s for sure.
