For three years now the Tretta/Motoda Cup has been the symbol for the fastest team in the moto industry. After Friday’s race, the trophy will head back to the Corona Sports Group lobby, as MSR bested the competition over the three motos. Word is that the TMC will be going on a few adventures this year, ala the Stanley Cup.

We have to give it up for the guys at O’Neal. Racing on a 1989 Honda CR250 could not have been easy, but they got it done. And looked damn good doing it.

Even though they were docked for “creative lines” and Rich Taylor was used as traction in the first turn, the MTA/EKS Brand Goggle team pulled off third place. RT was looking rough after the second moto, and rightly so. Taking a Honda to the body could not have felt good.

After the TMC and Skullcandy headphones were awarded to MSR, it was time for a celebration that continued into the night. This year’s Industry Cup podium was rounded out by MTA/EKS Brand in third and FMF Racing in second. Lil’ D is promising redemption in 2013, as FMF as finished second place all three years the event has taken place.

When the team manager spot for MSR opened up, Nick Wey jumped in and coached the team like a Denzel Washington movie character. NYK may have found his calling when it is time to hang up his boots.
