When nearly all of his contracts came up for renewal at the end of the 2010 race season, Chad Reed tested numerous types of gear before making a decision to sign with anyone. Cases of product showed up to the Florida compound and Reed tweeted the stockpiles that were enough to make a retailer envious. At the end of the trials, Reed partnered up with Fox Racing’s second company, Shift. Now nearly two years later, one cannot picture Chad in anything but the young, yet legendary brand. We hit up Warren Johnson at Fox to learn more about the head to toe kits Reed wore at last month’s Monster Energy Cup.
One of the two major products released by Fox in 2012 was the V4 helmet. At the Monster Cup, Reed revealed he would again be a Monster rider, as the patented “M” clawing tore down the side of both lids.
Fox Main Goggles
Color: Chad Reed Signature
A notoriously heavy sweater, Reed has a maxi pad stuck onto the top portion of foam to absorb the extra perspiration.
Reed’s pant sizes on the two different models is the same: 32 inches. Both feature leather inner knee panels and custom sponsor or nickname patches sewn on to the rear and legs.
The same sponsorship logos from the pants get added to his jersey, except the logos are sublimated into or ironed on the fabric.
Shift Chad Reed Signature Gloves
Colors: Black/White and Red
As the most critical area of contact between rider and bike, Reed and Shift designed a glove to the two-time Supercross champion’s specific wants.
Reed is a vocal fan in the Instinct boots that were released by Fox in 2012. Warren Johnson stated that Reed walked around the company’s Irvine, CA, offices in them commenting how comfortable they were immediately out of the box.

Reed uses the foam-based deflector under his jersey, allowing him to be protected from roost while keeping his outer appearance uninhibited.
