When rains forced us to postpone the sixth round of the 2012 Muscle Milk TWMX Race Series Fall Cup at Glen Helen, we were given a chance to step back and make sure that the final race of our inaugural year as race promoters would be one no one would soon forget. After another band of showers hit, we vowed to keep it from ending the year and went to work with the track staff to get the sandy hills of the San Bernardino circuit in shape. That cool December Saturday went off better than we could have expected, as throngs of racers hit the track and we crowned champions in every division.
The wet weather created a challenge for many in the first moto, but were simply another element for the racers to display their talents. They negotiated through the deep ruts, created lines to avoid low spots and puddles, and found the speed to boost themselves over every jump. With the sun overhead, the track began to dry and was beginning to pack and harden in some sections, which made the second motos even better than the first.
Every racer at every round of the Muscle Milk TWMX Race Series was presented with a ticket for a chance to win the 2012 Yamaha YZ450F we would raffle at the end of the year. After 23 races and countless entrants, we pulled five names from the collection of tickets and pitted them against one another in a game of precision and skill to determine the final winner. Justin McCoy bested his competition by throwing all five objects into a box from the second story of a Glen Helen structure and took home the brand new four-stroke. Congratulations, Justin.
