The All-New Oakley Airbrake MX Is Here

We joined athletes and media alike at Oakley for the unveiling and introduction of the Airbrake MX goggle, and below you will find photos from the night along with some informational video content that will help explain Oakley’s vision (no pun intended). Borrowing much of its design and appearance from its snow goggle cousin, the Airbrake MX shies from conventional motocross goggle concepts and make-up.

The Airbrake MX goggle steps outside of convention and introduces new design concepts to the motocross goggle category.

A molded Plutonite lens and Switchlock lens interchangeability headline the all-new Oakley Airbrake motocross goggle. Plutonite is Oakley’s proprietary polycarbonate material that is said to withstand just about anything you can throw (or shoot) at it, and Oakley made the switch from Lexan for the seemingly obvious reason of better protection. Along with the new, more rigid lens, an entirely new way of interchanging lenses has been introduced. Enter the Switchlock system, which allows the user to simply initiate a locking lever on either side of the frame to disengage the lens from its frame. From there, the lens can just be popped from its mount and replaced in seconds.

We will be testing the Oakley Airbrake over the coming weeks and will have a comprehensive review for you soon. In the meantime, check out some photos and video…
