For years, there has been a debate in regards to adding second stop to Atlanta, which is easily the most attended round of the 17-stop Monster Energy Supercross Series. Doing so would require Feld, the promoting body behind the sport, to do away with another event somewhere on the schedule, and as the only city with multiple visits, Anaheim has been singled out by those in favor of the switch.
We see the benefits that both cities have. Southern California is home to nearly every motocross-affiliated brand, SX test track, and racer. The South East, meanwhile, has become a second home to the sport’s top professionals and the one event in Atlanta draws between 60,000 to 70,000 spectators, many traveling long distances to see the race.
With that, we asked a mix of racers and team personnel there take on the question. We made sure to talk to racers that have competed on both coasts, as they have seen both tracks at their best and worst. The team personnel includes two iconic team managers and a mechanic who have visited every city that Supercross has traveled to in with the current schedule.
