Weston Peick Issues Statement Regarding Daytona SX

Weston Peick has issued a statement regarding his actions following the close finish in the LCQ at last Saturday’s Daytona Supercross.

I want to apologize to my sponsors and fans for letting my emotions get the best of me Saturday night after the LCQ when I thought I didn’t make it in the main. I work very hard and pay a lot of my own expenses, so I rely on main events to make my money. Thanks to all of my great sponsors for all you do for me.

Peick was engaged in a heated battle with Bobby Kiniry for the final transfer to the main event and the two racers were dead-even as the crested the finish line. The timing loop, which is placed at the base of the finish line jump, clocked Kiniry as the first across the line and the N-Fab/Ti-Lube Yamaha racer was initially given the spot. Upon further review Peick was determined to be the first across the actual finish line, but no one had gotten the word back to him as SPEED TV cameras saw him kick his bike and its fall from the stand.
