The Muscle Milk TWMX So-Cal Summer Cup has officially passed the halfway point with this weekend’s third round of racing. Anza, Ca’s Cahuilla Creek MX was host to the middle round of the series and the outdoor style track most certainly delivered. Huge ruts, braking and acceleration bumps and gnarly holes that littered the track awaited racers in the early motos, so it was key to be on your toes all day long. However, even though the track got rough, the weather sure didn’t. With it being Summer, one would expect the Southern California heat to be the usual scorcher, but this weekend we were granted a small break in the triple digit temperatures with a more manageable upper 80′s instead.
EKS Brand Goggles was on hand this weekend supplying racers with the necessary eye protection such as lens’, tear-offs and new sets of goggles, as well as hats, stickers and t-shirts. And keeping everybody fueled up was the killer Mexican food stand, as well as the Muscle Milk crew handing out some of their tasty goods.
When it came time for racing, it was the it was the Jeremy Byrne, Jessy Nelson and Manuel Moreno show. Jeremy Byrne absolutely crushed 250B and Schoolboy (thru 17) by winning both overalls and winning every single moto. In fact, he even crashed in the second moto of 250B on the opening lap, remounted in last and passed everybody for the lead and then the moto win. Lucas Oil/ Troy Lee Designs Honda rider Jessy Nelson made a special appearance this weekend and in dominating fashion, won all four motos to take home overalls in 250A and Pro Open. Also, Manuel Moreno completely swept his two classes, Open 65cc and 9-11 65cc. The kid was absolutely flying as he checked out from the rest of the pack.
We hope to see you at the fourth round of the So-Cal Summer Cup, which will be held at Glen Helen Raceway on August 4th. See you there!
