Muscle Milk TWMX Race Series Profile: Xandar Chabrieay
How did you get started riding? When I was 12 I got a little trail bike, a little 100, hardly went out to the track with it. I first started really riding motocross on a 250F when I was 14. I rode that for a while, but wanted to ride a two stroke, so I got this YZ125. It’s been doing great on these amateur tracks. Was your family into motocross? Actually, my parents barely knew what motocross was. I’m the first, so I’ve had to learn how to do my own bike maintenance and everything about it. What was it about motocross that got you into racing? The tracks, the tracks looked awesome. I was really young and I saw a motocross track on TV and thought it was awesome. After begging my parents when I was a kid, I got the 100, and now after riding motocross for four years, this is my first whole series that I’ve done. I made it to all the rounds and I just won the series points, so I’m pretty stoked about that! What made you pick this over other sports? It’s just more exciting, I’ve always wanted to be in a motorsport, even if it wasn’t dirtbikes. I think even buggies would be awesome. I wasn’t very good at other sports anyway. What other things do you do besides motocross? I do ride BMX, I feel like it is good training. On a road bike you don’t get to use your arms very much. I ride BMX freestyle so I am always pulling up and doing rolls and that kind of stuff. I also free running, I go to this gym, so I am out of the ordinary for training. I just like to have fun training. What brings you out to the Transworld Race Series? The whole set up, the two track format, the online results, the profiles, I can look up all my friends’ profiles. It’s better than the other series, which is why I pretty do only the Transworld races. Is this your first series championship? Yes, this is the first entire series I’ve actually been to. How does it feel to have a championship under your belt now? It’s pretty awesome! The first race of the series was actually my first race in 250F beginner. Before that I was racing the Intro class. It’s pretty great to finish it, even with a mangled bike and all. What are your goals in motocross? I’d like to go as far as I can, pro ranks and everything if possible. I’m also actually into freestyle motocross, but I’m doing the racing thing first. I’ve ridden the full 75′ freestyle ramps, so I’ve been trying that here and there. Do you do any other training besides the BMX and running you mentioned earlier? I’m going to start doing some gym training and more of the traditional training methods. Before my motos, I don’t use a stationary bike, I want to use my arms more, so I actually feel that a mini-tramp at the track to help warm up my arms before my moto.Xandar Chabrieay, 18 Playa Del Rey, CA Sponsors: Answer, Pro Taper, Gaerne, Smith Optics, Leatt, Dunlop, Ghetto Action Sports, Factory Connection, Matrix Concepts, ASV, Decal Works, Torc 1 Passion for motocross is something that every racer can understand. It is what drives us to ride and race, and often what got us started to begin with. Xandar Chabrieay raced the 250F Beginner class for the Muscle Milk/TWMXRS Summer Cup, claiming the series championship on his YZ125. It is always great to see riders race their two strokes against the more powerful four strokes, but it is even better to see them win races and championships. Chabrieay has the drive to win, case in point was his second moto at this round, he was involved in a first turn incident that put many riders down. Xandar got his bike up, bent and damaged, and went on to finish the moto.
