The first day of actual riding and racing at the Monster Energy Motocross of Nations in Teutschenthal, Germany, is well underway with practice concluding before a brief intermission and then the three 20-minute qualifying motos. The track is developing nicely with ruts forming in the corners and straights, and the moisture remaining in the surface. And while the lap times in the practice sessions didn’t mean anything, that didn’t mean that the riders were trying to post the quickest time.
In the MX1 class, Team Italy’s Antonio Cairoli posted the top time followed by Team Russia’s Evgeny Bobryshev with Team France’s Guatier Paulin third. Team USA’s Ryan Dungey was back in eighth. In the MX2 session, Australia’s Dean Ferris bested Team USA’s Eli Tomac on the last lap, while Team Russia’s Aleksandr Tonkov was third. Home country favorite, Ken Roczen was back in seventh. Finally in the MX3 class, Team Belgium’s Clemente Desalle was fastest followed by Team Great Britain’s Shaun Simpson and Team France’s Christophe Charlier. Team USA’s Justin Barcia was fifth.
