With a storied history of participants (Carmichael, Ferry, Stewart, Villopoto, Cianciarulo, Emig, Hughes, Larocco, O’Mara) the Kawasaki Race of Champions has become the sure sign of autumn’s arrival to the Northeast. Each year, Kawasaki takes over Raceway Park in Englishtown, New Jersey, and hosts some of the fastest amateur and professional riders in the sport for a weekend of racing action. Taking home a KROC trophy truly is an honor, but attaining one is a real challenge. In this year’s Pro divisions, which saw the likes of Jimmy Decotis, Mike McDade, Dakota Kessler, and Jesse Pierce, there we were a pair of stunning upset victories by dark horse contenders Luke Renzland (250 Pro) and Josh Clark (Open Pro). These two riders outlasted the competition on the treacherous Jersey circuit, Renzland taking three of the four moto wins between two classes, and made off with the lion’s share of the purse.
Our good friend and Northeastern corespondent Matt Wozney of MXPTV was there to capture all four of the Pro motos, and his video recaps show every detail of the action.
