Cole Thompson To Fill-In For Rockstar Energy Racing KTM’s Joey Savatgy

As we mentioned in our “Down & Out” report, Rockstar Energy Racing KTM’s newest 250 recruit Joey Savagty suffered an extensive list of injuries from a practice crash during the preseason. The combination of broken bones and internal damage makes the 2013 Monster Energy Supercross Rookie of the Year a question mark for his proposed run at the 2014 East Coast 250 Championship and select rounds of the 450 series, and the Rockstar Energy Racing KTM has fielded a replacement in case Savatgy is unable to line-up.

Canadian-based racer and longtime privateer Cole Thompson has been selected to race the vacant KTM 350 SX-F in the West Coast 450 races that Savatgy is guaranteed not to ride, and when the East Coast series kicks off in Arlington, Thompson will drop to the KTM 250 SX-F.While Joey may not even miss a single east coast round, if he does, Cole will continue with the team in his absence.
