Jovan Pulgar has been a consistent front runner in both the 250F and 450F Intermediate classes in the recent Fall Cup races.  He has several overall wins in both classes as well as a win and runner up position in the Schoolboy class.  Racing 6 motos per day and staying in the front is proof of the skills and speed Pulgar is capable of.  Jovan rides with an intensity that is apparent by spectators as he pushes his way to the front of the field.  At only 16 years of age, the future is bright for this talented racer. 
What brings you out to the Muscle Milk TWMX race today?
Just to race and try to get better.  I just came back from a break so I’m just trying to get the feel of it again.
Why did you take a break?
I tore my ACL and was out for almost a year.  That was no fun, but I feel much better now.
You have good speed in the Intermediate class and the new year is here, what are your racing plans for 2014?
I want to try to hit as many of the amateur nationals as we can afford.  We will definitely do the World Mini.
Will you try to qualify for Loretta Lynn’s?
We will definitely try.
Have you done any of the amateur nationals before?
I did when I was younger, my last one was probably in 2010.  I made it to Loretta’s, but since then I haven’t done too much.
What has been your biggest accomplishment in racing so far?
Making it to Loretta’s for sure, that was cool.  That was in the Novice class.
How did you get your start in racing?
My dad used to race when he was younger, but he couldn’t afford it.  But when I came along he wanted me to ride.  I started when I was about 4, so he kind of brought me up into it.
Has your racing always been a family activity?
Yeah, I think his dad did it as well, and also my uncle does it.
What do you like about motocross over other sports?
Just the adrenaline, you can’t get that in other sports.  It’s fun, but it is hard though.
What is the draw into racing for you that keeps you coming back?
Just trying to get better and improve each weekend.  Like this weekend, if I can’t accomplish what I want, then I work on it during the week to get it the next weekend.
What kind of training do you do to prepare for the races?
I do crossfit and I also work with my trainer Brandon Brady.  It’s hard but it’s been helping me a lot.
What do you like about the Muscle Milk TWMX races in particular?
The competition is crazy, there are so many fast kids.  It’s just a lot of fun.
What other hobbies do you have outside of motocross?
I don’t have any really, just training and schoolwork.  That’s kind of it.
How often do you ride as  part of your training?
I try to ride three times a week and then race on the weekends.
