Cloud Toda is a racer from Japan, but his name should be familiar to many American motocross fans, as he spent a fair amount of time racing in the United States in the 2000s. As a factory Suzuki Japan rider, Toda’s career was cut short a few years ago in a horrific testing crash that left him paralyzed from the chest down. Though he continues to work hard towards a full recovery, Toda returned to two wheels earlier this year when his friends built him a special KTM 450SX-F, much like the one Ricky James rode and raced. Recently, Cloudy switched to a Suzuki RM-Z450, and we’ve seen photos of him on his new ride on his Facebook and Instagram accounts. Imagine our surprise when he got a hold of us last week, letting us know that he was in California for a few weeks, and had bought another Suzuki to ride Stateside! For now, Toda’s goal is to compete in the Adaptive Supercross class at the Summer X Games in Texas. We certainly hope that ESPN extends the invitation to our good friend. Now watch the video, already!
