Cole Thompson | The Fill-In

Sometimes there is a silver lining to a rider getting hurt; not for the person it happened to that is, but for the guy on the outside that could benefit from the vacated spot. The Rockstar Energy Racing KTM team had a pair of serious injuries disrupt the progress of Davi Millsaps and Joey Savatgy, and since both would be kept on the sidelines for a considerable amount of time, replacement riders were deemed necessary. We’ve covered Ivan Tedesco’s return to the starting aboard Millsaps’ KTM 450 SX-F extensively, but little has been said about Cole Thompson’s recent call-up to ride for Savatgy. Thompson, a Canadian privateer that competes in the 250 East Coast championship each season, will race select rounds of the West Coast swing in the 450 class aboard a 350 SX-F and will drop back to the 250 SX-F when the series kicks off in Dallas.
