Muscle Milk TWMX Race Series SoCal Winter Cup 2014: Glen Helen Raceway

Following a full house at Milestone MX Ranch at the opening round of the 2014 So-Cal Winter Cup, we all thought a crowd like that couldn’t be outdone. Well, we were wrong! Another outrageous amount of racers flooded the Glen Helen Raceway facility for the second round of the Winter Cup and the final count for entries was well over 550. Once everyone was in the gates and geared up, it was time to hit the outdoor style MX tracks for some much needed practice laps because the Glen Helen track crew made a few changes to both amateur and expert tracks.

The always reliable EKS Brand Goggle family was on hand racing and selling tons of their killer goggles and tear-offs.

Tallon Lafountaine has blistering speed at any given time and he let it out during both 450 Intermediate motos. Lafountaine finished with the overall in 450B, but was unable to battle for the top spots in his other classes due to some bike problems.

In just a matter of months, Glen Helen will be flooded with factory race rigs, some of the fastest riders in the world and tons of race fans for the opening round of the outdoor motocross series, so when we were given the chance to host round two of the 2014 TWMXRS at well known location we jumped at the opportunity. It’s a great way to get a taste of what the pros will experience and it’s just an all around awesome track to race at with your buddies.

R.J. Wageman layed down some fast laps aboard his Yamaha in Open (non-pro) and was able to completely sweep both motos for the overall.

GNCC champ Josh Strang decided come out and try his hand at some MX racing. Strang was absolutely flying around the facility and was able to clinch the 450 Pro and Pro-open overall wins.

Tons of fast guys made the trip to the San Bernardino establishment to see how they stacked up against the rest of Southern California’s most elite amateurs. GNCC champ Josh Strang was on top of his game this weekend and went home with some hardware as he won Pro-open and 450 A, but not before having battles with KTM’s Mike Sleeter and Dylan Bauer who both had moto wins to their names in Pro-open. Another few classes to watch were the always stacked Intermediate classes. Tallon Lafountaine finished 450 Intermediate with another overall to his name by completely sweeping both motos and Rookie White finished with an overall in 250 Intermediate. RJ Wageman put on a clinic, as well, in Open (non-pro) and ended his day with a first place.

Rookie White was by far one of the fastest riders this weekend. White was able to nab the overall in 250 Intermediate, but not without some hard-fought battles with R.J Wageman and Deegan Von Lossberg.

We hope to see you at the third round of the 2014 So-Cal Winter Cup, which will be held at Competitive Edge on January 26.
